Accompanying the stamp is a letter on headed notepaper of the "Changchow General Hospital…Changchow Ku, China", part of the text of which reads : "I'm inclosing (sic!) a Communist stamp, this stamp is one that was captured by the army near Hankow. There were sixteen sheets of these stamps captured and my Brother-in-Law, who is a Commissioner of Posts, gave me three….They are rare and a cinch that there will be no more of them. They were used near Hankow for about two years".
