Lot 3253 China, WWI P.O.W./Internee Mail : 1916 (1 Apr.) "Service des Prisonniers de Guerre" unfranked registered envelope to Austria showing "Tientsin (China)/Deutsche Post" origin c.d.s., and "Auslandstelle Emmerich Frei-gegeben" circular h.s. in blue, sent via New York (1.5) and then returned to Tientsin, opened twice for inspection and sealed with two different censor labels tied by "Tientsin Br. P.O." c.d.s. (7.10), perhaps mail originating from the German P.O. in Tientsin attracted serious censorship.
