Lot 2724 Hong Kong, 1870 (18 Aug.) envelope to Aberdeen, Scotland (3.10) "Via Marseilles" bearing 1863-71 perf. 12½ 4c. slate and 30c. vermilion wing margin vertical pair cancelled "B62", showing on reverse matching "Hong Kong/C" and Aberdeen arrival c.d.s., rated "2/8", adhesives with small faults, fine and very rare usage of the perf. 12½ on cover, as well as the earliest recorded cover of this important stamp, with vibrantly coloured adhesives. SG 9f, 15.

Lot 2727 / Hong Kong, 1882-96 30c. grey-green block of nine with full original gum (unmounted mint except for two stamps), strong deep colour, perfectly centred, block folded a couple times, customary light even gum yellowing with a few faint age spots, some split perfs. between first and second stamp of first row (second stamp also has small surface fault at top), faint horizontal crease, very fine, a very nice multiple. ONE OF TWO RECORDED USED EXAMPLES OF 1898 10C. ON 30C. WITH CHINESE CHARACTERS SHOWING 10 CENTS DOUBLE.

This double overprint with the lighter initial surcharge to the top and slightly to the left of the second heavier impression represents a third type of double overprint, coming from the 3rd printing position 5 and is the only example recorded.
