Lot 72 o China, 1882 Large Dragon 3ca. brown-red, Setting VI or VII, a stunning vertical pair [19/6] with partial sheet margin at right and full sheet margin at foot, cancelled by "Customs/Newchwang" (26.1.84) and "Customs/Tientsin" (2.2.84) double-ring d.s. and also by "Exeter" (29.3) arrival c.d.s., very fine and a key multiple, being the only recorded instance of a wide setting 3 candarins with sheet margin at the right, thereby helping to confirm the sheet format of fifteen (5 x 3) for this issue. Lot 76 / China, 1882 Large Dragon 5ca. yellow-ochre, Setting III, the incomparable vertical pair [17/21] with 40mm. sheet margin at right, deep lustrous colour on pristine white paper, perfect centring, extremely fine post office fresh mint with immaculate white gum (top stamp has a hinge remainder and the lower stamp is never hinged), faint vertical crease in sheet margin just to right of stamps. A veritable gem for the connoisseur, of impeccable quality and of the highest exhibition calibre, "sans pareil". Chan 6.

Lot 82 o China, 1882 Large Dragon 5ca. yellow-ochre, Setting III, the magnificent irregular block of five [22-1-2/10-18] showing value tablets of three adjoining stamps at top, resplendent colour on exquisitely white paper, cancelled by Chefoo seals, [22] has minute natural airhole and stamp below has irregular corner perf. at lower right, a few trivial wrinkles and split/reinforced perfs., a superb block of the utmost rarity and aesthetic appeal. An outstanding exhibition item. Chan 6.
