Lot 310 E China, 1912 Unissued "Map of China" imperforate 3c. blue-green with large margin at top showing horizontal guide line, roughly separated margins, much original gum, probably salvaged from the official incineration after it was decided not to issue these stamps, and all stocks were then ordered destroyed.

Lot 311 E China, 1912 Unissued "Map of China" 1c. to $10, the complete perforated set of 13 for the intended issue, values to $5 overprinted "Tso Fei/Cancelled" bilingual oval h.s. in violet, and the $10 with similar unframed two-line h.s., the 8c. and 10c. have short vertical creases, very fine unused without gum. An exceedingly rare and evocative set for the first proposed commemorative issue of the new Republic of China.

ONLY A FEW COMPLETE SETS OF THIS PROPOSED ISSUE HAVE SURVIVED INTACT, HAVING SURVIVED THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ENTIRE ISSUE AFTER IT WAS DECIDED NOT TO PROCEED WITH THIS ISSUE AND IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DESTROYED.
