July 25-26 Auctions in Hong Kong
Our upcoming series of auctions will be held at The Park Lane Hotel in Hong Kong on Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26. The series of sales comprises four catalogues of diverse interest.
Sale 3: The Imperial Dollar Daters of China, the W.S. Kong Collection, Part 2. Following the enthusiastic response to our December 2008 auction, we are pleased to present the second half of this unique collection.
Sale 4: Postal Stationery of China. This is the first time that this subject has been presented in its own serious single-subject catalogue. The undoubted highlights are the 1907 third issue reply paid right folded stationery cards unused (one of two recorded) and used - the "King of Kings" of Chinese postal stationery, and extremely rare usages from Tibet and Mongolia, as well as important foreign routes such as Burma.
Sale 5: French Military Mail & Post Offices in China. This small but select catalogue comprises French military mail, with important French Expeditionary Forces from the Second Opium War, Formosa and extensive Boxer Rebellion, and an overview of the French civilian post offices.
Sale 6: Main Sale. Including China replete with varieties and rarities of the Ching Dynasty, including 1897 Dowager surcharges and important Red Revenues, and postal history, People's Republic of China including unused and used examples of the Sun Rays and four values of the 1964 unissued Peking Opera Masks, Taiwan with some of the most important issues of the Horse and Dragon stamps and surcharges, many of which come from the L.Y. Woo collection, including the large format die proof of the 20 cash vermilion and the "Foreign Silver 10 cents Commercial Bureau East" surcharge on 20 cash green (one of two recorded), Tibet with Chinese Post Offices, including the 3p. on 1c. inverted surcharge, and die proofs of the 1912 issue, Hong Kong and Treaty Ports featuring a wonderful pristine mint block of eighteen of the 1891 $1 on 96c. with Chinese surcharge and a specialized airmail collection, Macau, Philippines with early postal history, Japan, and the second part of the phenomenal collection of Mongolia formed by Anna-Lisa and Sven-Eric Beckeman.
